Dr. John W. Mitchell

Dr. John Mitchell has been practicing cardiology in the Auburn-Opelika area for 30 years. He started the cardiac care program in the area in 1985. Ever since, his highest priority has been to provide the best medical care possible to his patients.

He graduated summa cum laude and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa at Birmingham-Southern College, where he earned a degree in chemistry in 1976.

Dr. Mitchell graduated from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in 1976, where he received the Drennan Scholarship.

He performed an internship in Internal Medicine at the University of South Florida from 1980-1981 and served his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of South Florida from 1981-1983, where he was chief resident and recipient of the prestigious Marcus Award. He then served his Fellowship in Cardiovascular Medicine from 1983-1985, after which time he started the Cardiac Program at EAMC.

David Pate, CRNP

David Pate has been a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner at The Heart Center Cardiology since 2000. He earned his Associates Degree in Nursing from Wallace State Community College (Cum Laude) in 1983, his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Auburn University School of Nursing in 1998 and his Masters of Science in Nursing from UAB School of Nursing in 2000.

Tracy C. Williams, CRNP

Tracy Williams began her nursing career in 2006 after graduating from Auburn University with her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She spent the next five years at Mission Hospital, Asheville, NC where she worked as a Registered Nurse in various cardiac specialty units. During this time, she earned her Master’s Degree in Nursing from Western Carolina University and graduated with honors in 2010. Before joining The Heart Center’s team in August 2019, she practiced for eight years as a Family Nurse Practitioner in a primary care rural health clinic in Union Springs, AL. She also spent an additional year in family medicine in Asheville, NC.
